Lately I've been thinking about how busy life is. Not just life, but in particular, ministry. It's been a good busy, but busy nonetheless. As I think about all the things that are going on, I think about what the apostle Paul said to the church at Corinth in his 2nd letter to them, I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls (2 Cor 12:15).
With this in mind, I've also thought about the things that are unnecessary in life that add to the busy pace of life. Like many of you, I'm sure that you spend hours doing things that could be better spent doing something else. I spend time watching sports instead of going to sleep. I spend time surfing the web instead of reading my Bible. I spend time aimlessly scrolling through social media instead of praying and seeking Him.
Now I'm not saying any of the things that we do are inherently bad or evil, but what if we spent less time on the things of this world and spent more time on the things pertaining to eternity? As I consider the time that God has given me, the platform that I have, and the giftings He has bestowed upon me...I can't help but think about what I am doing with my time and platform and gifts.
I want you to take a minute to do the same. Sit, be still, and examine your life and the time you spend. What areas in your life can you make some changes to?
As I seek to live my life to serve Him and make Him known, I want my mantra to be Soli Deo Gloria. For the glory to God alone! Col 3:23 tells us that whatever we do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord rather than for men. I pray that this is your heart in doing whatever it is you do. Whatever we do, may all the glory be to the One whom deserves it.
