Having a group of friends who you know you can count on is priceless! I've always been so blessed by having a group of guys I can reach out to and know they will be there to support me in whatever is going on in my life. In the day and age we currently live in, this isn't always the case. People are often thinking about "me, myself, and I" and don't really have the time, or the heart to put others first.
I want to share with you a quick thought today about prayer. I am the first to admit that my prayer time is almost always centered around Chellie, Kenley, and I. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, I think about what James 5:16 says,
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."
I want this heart, that I would be praying for each and every one of you. This was the heart behind asking for a prayer request from each of you when we started up our small groups this season!
One of the things I love most about ministry is watching people blossom and grow in to who the Lord has created them to be. In this time, one of the greatest privileges I have is to walk alongside these people...one that each and every one of you has today. You have been given this opportunity in this specific time to walk alongside people in such a life defining stage of life. I want to encourage you today to pray for them. Commit to praying for them and let them know you are praying for them.
I believe this will have a threefold effect!
1. Your prayer life will change as you spend more time talking to the Lord.
2. Your heart for those you are praying for will change and draw you closer to them.
3. You will start down a path that allows you to think less egocentrically.
I'll leave you with this thought/question:
If God answered all of your prayers, would anyone else's life be different?
