Let Me Love You

Often times, I’ll resist the love of God. It’s absolutely crazy to hear myself say that. Who would ever want to resist love? Isn’t one of our biggest complaints that we don’t feel loved or heard or important? How hypocritical of us to covet the love of others, yet when God has his arms wide open, we turn the other way.

In Matthew 23:37, Jesus says to the people of Jerusalem “how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.”

Be willing for Jesus to love and protect you. Don’t resist the urge of the Spirit to spend time in fellowship with the Lord. Resist the desire to be loved by others. The love of others will inevitably let you down. And when that happens and all your insecurities come again to the
surface, know this – that you’ve been loved by God the whole time.
The God of the universe loves you, and that is infinitely more than enough.
